AUDITION EXCERPTS FOR AUGUST 2013

An explanatory cover letter and the 2013-2014 repertoire are included in each download. A PDF of ideas for efficient practicing is also available for download.

Ideas for Practicing

All violinists will audition using both Parts One & Two of the Violin I excerpts. You will then be seated in either the Violin I or Violin II section. If the Violin I parts are too overwhelming, you may audition using the Violin II excerpts instead, and you will automatically be seated in the Violin II section.

Note the section in The Moldau that will not be on the audition, but you'll need to practice it anyway for the concert.

Cello audition excerpts Part One
Cello audition excerpts Part Two
Cellists wishing to audition for the Principal Cello position must also play the famous solo from the William Tell Overture. If you do not wish to audition for that position, you do not need to learn the solo. All cellists should learn all the other cello parts below the solo, however.

Double Bass audition excerpts

The first rehearsal will be Monday evening, August 26, 7:30--9:45.
